After a small summer pause, I release new version of the JPlayer. Unlike of previous updates this is BETA because I made large modifications.
WARNING: don't use beta at active web pages. It's for testing purposes only.
Most important and largest modification is change of tags. Why? It's for simplification of including audio/video and not limiting on flv/mp4/mp3.
- flv, mp4 => video
- mp4remote, flvremote => videoremote
- mp3 => audio
- mp3remote => audioremote
Also you must now write file name with file extension. But don't panic. I made new copatibility mode (in Advanced settings) for autorewrite old tags to new tags (not working with playlist tags).
Any problems and bugs report to "max.lv{}centrum{}sk" with subject "JPlayer 1.5.5/1.6.5 beta" or to comments under this article.
Full changelog:
- new tags for audio and video
- new compatibility mode
- new version of the flash JW Player - latest version 5.7.1896 instead of old 4.7.811
- removed two versions of JW Player - with and without JW Player advertisement and custom logo
- more supported file formats - mov, 3gp, aac ...
- added stretching - defines how to resize the poster image and video to fit the display
- variable download text
- preview image in audio tag
- added playlist position left and right - videoplaylist only
- modified settings and language file
- united version numbers of both JPlayer lines

Comments
Only thing i wish for jplayer is more settings for a border around audio player.
otherwise seems okay.
great
thanks
However, I also now need to play videos that are hosted on another websites. I think the current version of jPlayer can't do this, but reading the news above, the most recent version will be able to?
Would you like me to test the beta version with remote videos? if so, please email me the file.
Many thanks,
Dave.
All versions (old, stable, beta) you can find in download section.
We currently are using JPlayer 1.6.2. Our site was just upgraded to Joomla 2.5.1 and our vidoes no longer play. The page displays either nothing in the content or the actual tag code.
It was working fine before the Joomla upgrade. Is there a 2.5-compatible version of JPlayer?
Thanks!
Dave R.
short question: what about licencing for using your player on commercial websites ?

The text:
"Click here to download in %s format"
in not translated.
Could you please consider in changing this?
would be possible to add compatibility with AVI format?
avi is a standards while still crawls mp4.
Please understand not as a criticism because your plugin is wonderful, but it would be nice to have support AVI.
many thanks for work
